The ceremony included members of the Miller family, as well as U.S. Congressmen Lou Barletta, Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan, and U.S. Postal Service, Central PA District Manager Dale Walker. Members of the community, friends and loved ones attended in a show of support and respect.
Legislation to dedicate the Pittston Post Office building to Miller was introduced by Barletta and signed into law by President Barack Obama on June 5, 2012. A plaque unveiled at the ceremony will be permanently mounted inside the Post Office lobby.
In a speech, Walker acknowledged the bravery and heroism of Trooper Miller. â??His acts of bravery, courage, and selflessness are well known. In fact, the tributes he displayed are the essence of what service is all about.â?
